A native Philadelphian, Don graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Drexel University.
He started his business career in the packaging industry and ultimately became VP of Marketing and Sales for a privately held company.
In the mid-1980s, he diversified his interests by becoming an investor in multi-family real estate in Alexandria, VA, and continued with real estate investments throughout New Jersey.
By the early 2000s, he saw the need for a lender that would finance commercial real estate for borrowers who could not qualify for bank financing due to the strict guidelines of the banking industry. Seeing this as an opportunity, in 2002 he founded Oak Leaf Financial.
Seth N. Broder, Esquire
Executive Vice President
Seth N. Broder became Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Oak Leaf Financial in 2003. He is responsible for all of the legal services for the company including loan documentation, managing outside counsel, workouts and participant relations.
In addition to his position with Oak Leaf Financial, Seth is the Managing Attorney of Broder Law Group, P.C., and oversees the firm’s private lending practice. He has often been recognized as an Awesome Attorney by his peers and is active in various non-profit organizations.
Seth received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Delaware and his Juris Doctorate degree from the Ohio Northern University School of Law.
Director of Operations
Ed joined Oak Leaf Financial as Director of Operations in January 2011.
Ed’s experience includes 28 years in the commercial lending industry. In his role at Oak Leaf, Ed oversees day-to-day operations including originating, underwriting, processing, closing small balance commercial loans and loan servicing. He is an expert at understanding the unique challenges the small business owner faces, from cash flow to credit.
Prior to joining Oak Leaf, Ed was the Managing Member of American Federal Capital Group, Inc.—a full-service commercial loan brokerage company located in Pennsauken, NJ—for eleven years. Prior to American Federal Capital Group, Ed was an Assistant Vice President of Sales for American Business Financial Services Inc.—a direct lender specializing in business and commercial loans located in Bala Cynwyd, PA—for ten years.
Matthew Zonies, Esquire
Asst. General Counsel
Matthew J. Zonies joined Oak Leaf Financial in 2013 and became Assistant General Counsel in January 2015. In this role, Matthew reports to General Counsel and is responsible for loan documentation, structuring transactions and ensuring Oak Leaf is operating in compliance with local laws and regulations. In addition to Matthew’s legal role with Oak Leaf, his operational duties include underwriting, loan originations, business development and strategic planning.
Matthew is also an associate attorney with Broder Law Group, P.C. where his practice areas include corporate law, commercial real estate, and private financing. Matthew received a B.S. in Finance from The College of New Jersey and a J.D. from Rutgers School of Law.
